St Oliver Plunkett Primary School
Thanks again for all your guidance, wisdom and friendship over the last six years. It has been an absolute joy to work with you in the multitude of building projects we’ve completed over that time. – Paul Blinkhoff, Principal, Sts Peter and Paul’s School
St Oliver Plunkett is a Learning Community: dynamic and welcoming with an understanding that significant educational benefits can be achieved in purpose-built spaces that suit contemporary thinkers. Their close collaboration in the re-imagining of the school Master Plan to include flexible and innovative teaching and learning spaces both indoors and adjacent to the formal classrooms substantiates this.
By providing space for dynamic learning opportunities, where teachers can work collaboratively to inspire each child to achieve their full potential, ensures that the School can maintain their future-focus and enables them to continue to deliver an excellent education.
The learning spaces in the Early Years precinct, the Ballygriffin building, has been designed with innovative teaching and learning approaches in mind. The inclusion of smaller focus rooms, break out spaces for group activities, furniture that can be re-organised to create different spaces, and walls which open between classrooms, create dynamic collaborative learning environments.
The new three-story Administration and Library Resource Hub, Presentation Place, provides a clear entry to the school and creates a beautiful sense of arrival. The new building provides equitable access to and throughout the school from the street.

The ground floor of the new three-story Administration and Library Resource Hub is dedicated to learning opportunities for STEM, robotics and multimedia filming and production. The multi-purpose space opens out to the covered quadrangle to increase inside / outside learning opportunities and will ensure that St Oliver Plunkett remains at the forefront of learning activities now and into the future. The first and second floors are allocated to administration and staff professional spaces. It is important to provide a welcoming and inclusive space to support staff wellbeing, a retreat for team members to recharge, catch up, wind down, relax and enjoy. Collaborative working spaces, formal and casual meetings (both seated, and on the move) and small group chat spaces have all been considered in the design.
The Cork building, is the dedicated specialist Music and Art classrooms which open to a covered learning area and courtyard garden. The newly refurbished canteen will be able to cater for school musical performances or artwork presentations.
