Ozcare Reflections on The Bay Retirement Village, Hervey Bay
[Enrich Architecture] has been instrumental in Ozcare’s desire to design and construct buildings that offer a new approach in the areas of residential aged care and retirement living.– Damian Foley, Chief Operating Officer, Ozcare
When designing Reflections on the Bay Retirement Village in Hervey Bay, our main focus was always the end user’s experience. The village design considers how the residents can share public and common spaces, amenities and services to facilitate social connections with neighbours, friends and family. The emphasis is on encouraging companionship and group activities, to get residents involved in contributing to a community spirit.
The architecture is contemporary with a combination of traditional pitched and skillion roofs and a consistent material palette to create a familiar coastal themed vernacular. The village includes a variety of housing options for people in their senior years with the Community Centre being the focal point and provides opportunities for group or individual activity.

Spaces That Nurture
Public and private spaces both internally and outdoors are designed for group activity or quiet retreat

Places for community interaction, provide a variety of options for social engagement (for resident wellbeing)

Homelike places of familiar vernacular to give a sense of belonging
Reflections on the Bay Retirement Village offers many opportunities for residents to interact, through on-site recreational facilities including lawn bowls, swimming pool and gym, craft room, library, community meeting centres and social activities.
Maintenance and other services provided by Ozcare allow more time and opportunities for the residents to socialise, make new friends and explore new interests. Fences between the courtyards of individual units have been intentionally excluded from the design to encourage a greater community atmosphere, safety overlooking and neighbourly discussion.
